Absolutely shocking service. Summary: They refused me entrance into a room which I had already fully paid. I could pay their holding deposit with a digital card which they refused (only wanted a physical card or cash). Poor showing / inability to accommodate. Long story: I pre-booked and fully paid for the room but when I arrived to check in, they asked for my credit card for an extra deposit. I am not fussed about the extra deposit but when I asked them what it's for, they couldn't tell me anything besides "it's company policy". Unfortunately I didn't have a physical credit card due to other circumstances but could still pay the deposit with my digital card on my phone. They said that they need to cite a physical card or get cash payment. I dont understand how cash payment is different from a digital card payment. They told me to call a friend to borrow cash but I told them that I'm on holiday in another city so that doesn't make sense. I ended up having to cancel the booking then find another hotel last minute without a booking. How is it that I found a 3 star hotel which could accommodate for me but Sofitel couldn't? Never booked with them before, never will in the future.

The lobby is nice and plenty of staff on hand to assist. There was no wait to access our room. The rooms themselves are fairly dated but it was clean and tidy. We paid to have breakfast included. There was a 20 minute wait at 9am on a Sunday to get a table, then coffee order was about 30 minutes once you sat down. Ordered an eggs Benedict that never arrived. Location was great for us, I would stay again but skip the breakfast.

Beautiful room and bathroom. Good desk area. Great buffet breakfast with good variety of food. Bad service considering I requested a room away from the elevator one month before my stay but was assigned a room right in front of the elevator. I was told that was because it was very full and no one had this complaint about the elevator before. Hardly slept for 2 nights because I can hear the sound every time the elevator went up or down. Room is bad soundproof. I can hear people talking on the corridor.

We stayed had our work function during the day and stayed 2 nights. Beautiful and centrally located hotel with spacious and modern function rooms with good lighting and AV setup. The service was friendly and catering was delicious. Points for having a coffee machine available and sparkling water on each table. My hotel room was clean, comfortable and modern. Highly recommended.

Room was clean, comfy and spacious. The addition of the dressing gown & slippers worked a treat. In Room dining service could have been better. Their app didn't work. Just as well I rang down to see if my order went through. Still took 40 minutes for a toasted sandwich. Delivery to the room was really quick.

Quiet room. Great breakfast. Staff very friendly and helpful. Special mention to Charles in Concierge for going out of his way for us.

Well, what can I say. The Sofitel Wentworth Sydney used to be one of Sydney's premier 5-star hotels. Prominently positioned, oozing luxury, it was the place to stay and one of the feathers in Accor's Sydney portfolio. My experience toward the end of 2022, was one of the least favourable service experiences I have ever received at a hotel, the property has been left dormant in the ever-competitive 5-star Sydney market and truly is an embarrassment to be carrying the Sofitel brand. When I went to check-in, I was stuck standing in a queue for between 5-10mins, to then be told my room wasn't ready and to check back in with reception in about 30-mins. 35-mins later, I did exactly that (after standing in line again), to be told that it still wasn't ready and to check back in with them in 20-mins. I'll mention now, that it was well past check-in time by this point. I came back 40-mins later (had to queue yet again), at which point I was now extremely limited with time to get to a dinner that evening, a room was finally ready for me and when I told the receptionist that I was pressed for time and needed my bags sent up to my room as soon as possible, she said she would ensure it happened. When I got up to my room, I was met with a stale, dirty, dark, incredibly depressing room from the early 2000's which is priced like a modern 5-star hotel in Sydney. What was even more frustrating is that, dirt and grime which easily could be wiped away, was stagnant (much like the hotel) on the wall around the bin area, whilst crumbs and hair and other dirt was visible across the floor, particularly in corners. I have photos of the dirt, warped wallpaper, dust etc - quite incredible. In the bathroom, they've transitioned to larger share bottles of soap, shampoo and conditioner etc, however the soap was empty .... whilst I appreciate you want to be environmentally-friendly, ensure the bottles are restocked after guests depart. My bag, took a further 20-mins to get up to my room - making me quite late for my engagement that evening. Every time I walked past reception, there was a queue and every time you queued, there was hardly acknowledgement from anyone that you've been waiting for upwards of 5-mins to be served. The only saving grace in this hotel is the concierge and bell team and the service delivered by them and the team in the lobby bar - they were both exceptional areas to interact with. For some reason, there was no overnight room service menu available - quite incredible for a property marketing themselves as 5-star. This review might come across as harsh, but when you're charging customers for a premium 5-star product and unable to deliver what I would consider to be a 4-star product at best, when your surrounding competition has invested in their product recently and are charging rates similar to you - you might expect severe disappointment from your guests. Would I recommend this property - no. 2-stars for the review because some of your team actually tried to care, whilst surrounding by an aging product, having to make up for this to your guests on the daily. Also, I completed the emailed survey when they sent it to me after checking-out, to receive not even an acknowledgement of my feedback or concerns, so here is my public review of this property.

I feel shouldnt even give one star. Poor quality room and the appliances also were bit dusty. Edited: I was already living in your hotel for 5 days. You guys have time to give generated response to all on social media but everyday when I was complaining about shower issues, room issues no response. Poor hospitality just gambling and passing on one anothers name at concierge and reception.
