Killara Golf Club Limited reviews
5 Star Review by Ivan Ang
What a lovely golf club with an exceptionally well maintained course, befitting of being one of the best on the North Shore. I thoroughly enjoyed playing the course. Tee boxes were as good as many greens on lower grade courses and the greens themselves were very fast. Was invited by a friend who is a member there. If you get the opportunity, you should take it up.

Wonderful venue for gathering of 60 members of performing arts fundraising group. Delicious food, old fashioned service, small tables of 8 that people could hear one another without shouting. Understated elegance and a most enjoyable afternoon...with plentiful parking.

I would strongly recommend joining an alternative golf club if youre in your 20s-30s (especially if youre looking to start a family and female). The only membership available when you have a baby is the house membership - this is still a considerable amount of money for benefits you probably wont have time to use or even need. Ie the tennis courts, using the restaurant. There are a few other golf clubs on the north shore that allow their expectant and new mums to essentially pause their memberships as they recover and enjoy this amazing, yet busy time in their life. KGC is not one of them. When I discussed this with the general manager, David, I was met with abuse and rudeness. He spent about 15-20 minutes bullying me on the phone (all the while knowing I was 8months pregnant). I did explain that many other golf clubs allow new mums to pause their memberships and he mentioned that KGC is doing a lot better than The Royal. LOL, yes the Royal only allowed female members recently, so Im not entirely sure that comparison is something to be proud about. Unfortunately, it has been over a year and no progress has been made with memberships so this is a public service announcement if youre thinking about joining.

We were there for a function and it was very good. Service of food and drinks was excellent and the space provided suited our needs well. They probably need to invest in some audio visual gear though. I have lived locally, less than 500 m away, for 31 years but because I am not a golfer I have never visited before. Nice old building, friendly and helpful staff, good function area, plenty of parking, not much else is needed. Well some better AV gear maybe.
