Malua Bay Bowling and Recreation Club reviews

5 Star Review by Dan Duncan

Whilst visiting the South Coast of NSW we were fortunate to experience the Blue Salt Restaurant within the Club Malua. Very spacious and new setting. The meals were delicious. The 4 of us were extremely happy with each meal. Fresh and tasty and well presented. My wife tried one of the many cocktails on order and she loved it. Service was friendly.

I finally went to the club last night to support the local after the reopening. No music, very loud people noise. The service was lousy. 2 hours to wait for dinner. To be fair, they did advise when we order that there would be an hour wait. But 2 was unacceptable. There was no apology or anything when the food finally did arrive. Food was ok but one quarter of tomato and one tiny slice of cucumber in my salad with some lettuce is not enough. The pasta seafood pasta dish had about 3 prawns and 3 half pieces of calamari. Schnitzel was small compared to most other club schnitzels. I expected more for the price we paid. The line for getting a drink was also very long and slow. I was disappointed because I was hoping it was better than the Chinese that used to be there. Don't think I will be returning anytime soon.

We had dinner at the newly-opened Blue Salt restaurant and were very impressed. The food was great and the portion sizes were large. The fresh oysters were plump and delicious and calamari was tender. The Macadamia Salmon was beautifully presented and cooked and the Bay Marina pasta was very generous and tasty. The service was friendly and prompt and the ambience good.

My partner and I are locals and we went to the new Club Malua for the first time today. What a nice place. Very comfortable balcony overlooking the bowling greens we had a few beers, and then the food was really good and very reasonably priced. Very nice staff as well. Highly recommended.

Luv the new look of Club Malua, had a lot of ambiance n character. All the staff were very friendly n helpful. Daisy who seated us at our table was friendly n professional the entire evening. We ordered 3 steaks, a barramundi n pasta. Steaks were perfectly cooked, but very disappointed with the Pepper n Diane sauce that accompanied it was very runny!!from me will visit again n would not hesitate 2 recommend 2 visitors. Hope the fix the sauces

Very good experience hot and cold seafood platter pros - great selection of seafood and excellent value for money. Cons restaurant very noisy , battered fish probably shark was old, only 2 slices of lemon sorry I like lemon with my seafood

2 Star Review by Diane Brooks

Went to dinner with friends and was so disappointed in the meals we received. Long lines for both food and drink orders. Our table was booked for 6 pm but no meals arrived until after 7pm. The order was wrong when it did arrive, the garlic & herb bread did not arrive until I reminded them of the order and it was stone cold. I really feel for the staff who are really under the pump but 3 items on the menu were not available (seafood platters) and pasta dishes shows that the kitchen is struggling. So disappointing as I love this club in the quiet times but tonight was a train wreck.
