We had a wonderful stay and would recommend it to our friends - the bed is comfortable and the decent room side. The dinner at the hotel is fantastic and of great value (my husband is an amazing chef. We hold high bars for food). The only two small things are 1) the aircon in our room is very noisy, so we had to turn it off. The blankets are warm enough, but it might be a struggle in summer. 2) The service of the staff in the restaurant can be improved - friendly staff but might need a bit more training. For example, no spoon came with my seafood soup until I asked; when we ordered desserts to share, I clearly asked for sharing plates but still didn't receive it when the dessert came. However, they were happy to help when I asked for it - I just had to keep asking. It didn't bother us at all since the food was incredible. If we are dining at a three-hat restaurant, I might expect a different service, but in our case, it didn't impact our fantastic experience. I would still recommend the restaurant and

This is a loverly looking pub/restaurant and I recommend you go there for Drinks. The food there is very hit and miss especially the expensive Steaks. This will be a rant about why their food is not good *for the price*. Firstly the Angus steak was very perfectly cooked. No problems. But what a tough sinewy cut. When I pay for a good steak I want the Chef to reject poor bits of meat. I mentioned this to the (excellent) staff and was told he had heard this from other diners over there recent few months. This is unacceptable. We wont be eating at this restaurant again. It was embarrassing for my 'special' thank you night where we where thanking my family for recent help. On a previous visit, 5 months ago, my guest ordered the top of the range steaks and sent them back. My family have been in the Armidale beef industry a long time and know our steak cuts.

Came here for dinner only Restaurants Atmosphere, decor and setting are great. Which is why I booked here for a special birthday treat. However $240 odd for 2 people for a shared entree, 2 mains, 2 cocktails and a bottle of red is steep. Food was ok nothing exceptional to rave about. Service and staff were good, professional and friendly. However did not appreciate at 9.30 having the bill just placed on the table as a hint to "move out". Not on!! Then proceed to setup morning buffet paraphernalia near us. For next morning.

Note this review is for the restaurant only, which is lovely. Huge portions, perhaps too big, fresh seafoos, well cooked steak ans friendly service. The restaurant is beautifully decorated in period art deco style and a great place for a fancy meal.

The staff in the ladies lounge are tremendous. They provided exceptional service even for just coffees and a babychino. Friendliness and attention to detail is exceptional. The decor is very comforting and relaxing especially by the fireplace. Just wonderful .... !! Check it out...
