We went to Ballina for a family get together. Next time we go to Ballina the Slipway will be our choice to stay. Paul was so friendly and really helpful. We found all staff very friendly.

Bar and wait staff were amazing very friendly. My steak however was over cooked. I approached the head chef after I ate the thinner edges of the steak which was well done. I was not bothered it was the thinest part of the rump I cut into the bulk of it and it was medium when I asked for rare. The cheff said well you ate it so I explained I ate the well done bits knowing it's hard to get the hole rump rare. He was rude an unprofessional. told me it keeps cooking on the plate ... I then found myself educating this bloke on resting the streak after cooking it. Great service except for this drop kick

Very outdated motel .Tiny bathroom with no washbasin . Kitchen bench for tea and coffee making had bathroom sink on it.Overnight stay only thank goodness as bed was uncomfortable.

Good large rooms with private bath & kitchenette. Washer and dryer. Excellent location, short walk (5mins) to everything or short drive (6mins) to Ballina Fair shopping mall. Beds are not great, but ok for a short stay. Very clean rooms & helpful staff. Its foundation elevation kept even the bottom level (rooms 1-5, 6-10 upstairs) dry through the flood (March 1st-4th 2022) and could withstand tides up to 2m. The water did not reach the steps at the height (1.8m) of even the the King tide. The flood related high tides will come on the street thru the drains, and it may look alarming, but the levels go back down with the tide. Unless its 2m+ , theres no need to panic. All in all - very lucky to be here during the worst flood on record. The Ramada (70m directly in front ) has its own generator and so has access to EFTPOS, hot food, cold beer, barista made coffee and most importantly of all power to charge phones. Probably one of the VERY FEW businesses on Ballina Island able to offer anything essential. The Slipway Motel lost power, internet and hot water due to the flood. Contacting management during the crisis was impossible, so make sure you have that info beyond what is provided.
