Dinner at the Palace restaurant was excellent. The mixed mushroom risotto was delicious. The beef schnitzel was made with a nice thick slice of tender beef and generous in size. The accompanying chips were crispy and salad was good. A good lively atmosphere in the restaurant on a Monday night. Service was quick and efficient and prices reasonable.

We visited The Palace Hotel on an October Wednesday night for dinner (one adult and two kids). We were wondering why the rest of town was so quiet and a lot of other places were closed? Well the answer was because everyone was at The Palace Hotel for Karaoke Night. The dining room was packed but the staff asked us to wait while the tables turned over and we were seated on the lounges for about 20 minutes. The food was very good pub grub though it did take a little while given the full dining room. Tables were turning over quickly as the party kicked off next door and people moved into the other bar. We tried the beef schnitzel with mash and veggies, main size spaghetti bol, kids nuggets and chips and then sticky date puddings with butterscotch and ice cream. The staff were very busy but friendly and helpful. The servings were generous but we were able to finish it all. All in all spent about $96 for three people including soft drinks and sharing desserts.

We stayed for one night... I reviewed the website and contacted the venue - we booked a "Family Room" and was advised it was the only one that could accommodate us - queen bed, set of bunks, shared bathroom. We arrived late, picked up our keys from the bar, and went to our room. The room was anything but a family room! no heating, freezing cold, no towels, bedding was a cotton sheet and light blanket, it smelt musty, lights didn't work - the Balcony Budget Room on the website presented better. After advising staff that it was nothing like what was presented on the website I was told "nothing ever looks like it does on a website does it?". We were given some alternative rooms and found one that was suitable and available - a queen bed, single bed, and trundle (after having been told they only had the room we were allocated that could accommodate us) - we paid the difference in price and settled in for the night. We were put in room 106 which is the Standard Room with Ensuite on the website. The room was comfortable, warm, and well presented. I don't know why we weren't offered the option of that room when we booked other than the fact we were only staying for one night. If traveling as a family check the room you're going to be given and avoid 225 - it's more suited as backpacker accommodation at best. I have raised my concerns with the venue before writing this review but have received no reply

A grand old lady that is tired and showing it's age... I have mobility issues but was told with great enthusiasm that we (partner and I) were in a newly renovated room, up 2 little steps to a small side hallway. The room at first sight was elegant as was the bathroom... But!

Didnt stay at the hotel but ate there most of the time due to closeness to worksite. And I have to say, it has the best food/consistency I've ever experienced. The steaks were delicious, sides were amazing. The sauces though is definitely the part that takes it to a new level. The depth of flavour in them is above and beyond. Staff service is great too, always friendly and open, will try to help with things, make suggestions etc. Legit would say it's worth an interstate trip just for the food alone.

Was really worried as a vegan in Broken Hill trying to dine out in a group and get a decent feed. We wanted to go to Mario's (Pricilla fans) and were worried only one vegan option on the menu, a pasta dish . Not expecting much was amazed at such an amazing and flavoursome dish, easily the best vegan pasta dish I've had in some time. Would highly recommend this dish to anyone visiting Broken Hill an try out Mario's.
