Gateshead Tavern-Motel reviews

4 Star Review by Pete Gailey

We were caught in Newcastle for 10 days due to a family member in hospital and desperately needed some affordable accomodation. Luckily we stumbled upon Jenny at the Gateshead Tavern who was able to juggle her bookings and provide us with a twin room for nearly two weeks. Although the room was basic it was clean, affordable and convenient. The staff and clients at the Tavern were friendly generous and provided us with good old fashioned hospitality in our time of need for which we are very grateful. Thank you.

3 Star Review by Patrick Cooper

Old and dank. Cheap enough though, shower floor needed a better clean. Overall standard was 2.5 to 3. Staff were helpful. Location a bit industrial but close enough to some bush walks and the beach. 5k

4 Star Review by Naomi Loveday

My partner and I stayed for 3 nights and apart from a few minor details that the wonderful Jenny attended to, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Small cosy room with reverse cycle air conditioning, compact shower with great pressure and hot water. Food was great, as were the entire staff. Value for money!!!!! The only things to make it 5 star would maybe be some cutlery, an iron to go with the ironing board and perhaps a small microwave. SPECIAL THANKS TO THE AMAZING JACKIE FOR ALL HER HELP DURING OUR STAY. SHE DESERVES A RAISE X

4 Star Review by Timson Airlie

Would give 5 stars apart from the drunken guests talking loudly and laughing at 7am. No respect right outside the rooms. Staff were fantastic and able to attend to me easily. Room had all the basics just annoying that the shower would be boiling one minute and freezing the next. Cheap and cheerful accomimdation.

1 Star Review by Breanna Ellery

This place was terrible our room was advertised as two rooms it was one tiny room with two beds there was nothing the make food with and the fridge was in the cupboard the bathroom was so tiny that you barely had room to move around the giant sink and not to mention the light bulbs sticking out the top of lamp shade and the security guards threatened to kick us out because we were being to loud when people were literally at the bar screaming then the same guards told our friend that they were going around threatening to kick people out cause they were bored the only good thing about this place was the nice cleaning people
