Astor Hotel Motel reviews
2 Star Review by Lex Furlong
Starting with the positives: the room was modern and well decorated. The staff were friendly and down to earth. Great location. Although, I wouldnt stay here again. The pub was extremely noisy until all hours of the night. We could hear people talking outside our room, and someone staying in the room directly upstairs was walking around in heels until late. Whenever upstairs used their bathroom and flushed the toilet, you could hear a loud rush of water go through the pipes inside our room. The shower was tucked in a dark corner where you couldnt see what you were doing unless you kept the shower curtain open. The bathroom walls were covered in condensation and needed a good wipe down. The bedroom portion of the room was fairly clean but the blankets and duvet on the bed hadnt been washed in awhile as they had a bad smell. The actual sheets were clean though. Cant comment on the pub food as we didnt eat there. We sat down to get a meal but the prices were too high and the other customers were too loud.

I LOVE this place. Every time I come here I have a better stay than last time. The rooms are super clean and have private bathrooms. Off street parking right in front of my door. But the actual venue itself is amazing. Some of the best food you'll find in any pub (and some restaurants) but the prices are really fair. Heaps of TVs for sports fans. The best value stay I've ever enjoyed. My only regret is every Aussie town doesn't have an Astor.

Had our wedding at the Astor this month in Nov and it was absolutely wonderful the kindness and support Simon and Sarah demonstrated through the whole process! The team on that was serving during the wedding was absolutely professional and went above and beyond for us, I really cant applaud the boys for how well they worked and served! The food was something EVERYONE LOVED, being a wedding you definitely get judged by the food and let me say it was delicious and generous! The atmosphere was great, the whole process was easy! We couldnt of been happier, 5 stars really dont do the Astor justice! Thank you team!

Booked at the Astor because we had previously stayed in the suites and it was really nice, but the suites were booked out so we thought wed just book at the motel instead. Turns out they also have hostel style rooms across the road, but we had no idea that this is what we were getting. The facilities were fine for a hostel, but when you expect to be staying in a motel room and find out you dont even have a bathroom in the room its a bit of a shock. If we had known this is what we were getting we would have booked somewhere else. Some pictures of the room or a a name change to include hostel would be good so that people know what theyre getting.

Food was great but a bit pricey. One bedroom apartment was in need of a huge amount of attention. Peeling and flaking paint on walls, ceilings and around windows. Water damage and mould on bedroom and bathroom ceiling. Heater light not working in bathroom. Toilet seat too small for toilet. Sofa bed extremely uncomfortable. Very noisy at night. Won't stay again unfortunately.

We were booked in to stay at the Astor 14/1/23 in a 2 bed apartment (21). There was paint flaking off the ceiling in the bathroom and a bedroom, the bottom of the bathroom vanity was rotting away and there were holes in both bedroom walls and both rooms with several patches on the walls but no paint. One of the bedrooms had a dirty water stain with rotting wood next to one of the beds, skirting board with so much paint missing and just awful. This apartment was charged at $250 per night. Absolutely not worth it. We packed up our things the same day and headed to check out, we weren't staying there with our kids. Upon checkout they were told that we were unhappy with the apartment but zero care was given as to why, this was the answer "oh, you were unhappy, ok". I absolutely would never stay here.

Stopped for the night en route from Griffith to Newcastle. Although I'm not saying it's the most flash hotel available it was clean, comfortable, well lit and the service at reception, the bar and the restaurant were 5/5 as was the food. We weren't feeling very well and wanted to have dinner (which was delicious) in our room and the buzzer even worked that far away. Nothing was too much trouble. It was also surprisingly quiet. Definitely will make it out overnight stay in the future! Thank you.
