Only went for a meal. Friendly staff & the menu and wine lists on open display. Very reasonable prices for both. Had compared with the other 3 hotels which didn't have menus on open display. Also the Royal had the best selection of meals.

I am a self confessed Royal Hotel fan. OK, I am also a fan of Criterion, Railway, Commercial and a number of other hotels. Anyway this is a ramshackled but solid old style hotel with friendly staff and a cast of local characters. Not the best of condition but clean and tidy and welcoming. Worth a visit for the interior.

Great local pub with lovely food and friendly locals. We had chicken schnitzel and chicken parma, lovely crispy chips, veg and salad. It's a 5 minute walk from the campground by the old station, what a lovely spot.
