The other guests that where there that night where very loud partying all night till 4am No respect at all for other guests in the hotel. Staff didn't seem to be worried about how loud and rude the other guests where being. Nothing was done by staff to stop them from being so loud. We didn't get any sleep due to how loud the guests where, partying till 4am Drunken guests tried entering my room from the balcony door they where very drunk looking for a friend. Very disappointed in my stay here we will never stay here again! Will definitely not recommend this hotel.

Not sure what this place is. We were literally the only people there. We had to call a number on the door to ask for the key. The lady said she was sick. The room looked clean enough. No spare blankets or pillows. It was very cold. Just one small heater. There were heated blankets on two beds but plugs were hard to find and the cord was a trip hazard. The shower and toilets were clean enough. The kitchen was clean on first glance but there were dishes in the rack and the dishcloth was bunched up in a corner of the rack. The teatowel looked dirty. I just used paper towels. The lounge and lounge pillow is probably from the 80s. Its torn and had stains. No batteries in remote for the small TV that was in a large common area. Being a hotel I thought there would be food. No kitchen open. But the pamphlet in the room advertises a bistro with meals. Communal margarine and jams, already open in the fridge. A loaf of bread and bottle of milk supplied. I paid $160 for 4. I've paid a lot less for a motel with TV, fridge, bar and private shower. I really think the standard needs to go up or drop the price. Maybe pre-package the cereal and bread and place in the private rooms? Provide single serve spreads? I don't know but it's not something for families. It's maybe for the loan traveller passing through or groups who are happy to purchase and share their own communal food. I understand that a hotel is just a room and the rest is communal but it's very minimal. No aircon in rooms. I would dread summer there.

We had booked a room for last Saturday night and on arrival we found the place closed ( 3pm) and had to phone someone to let us in. The room had no fridge or heater (we found one), and there is no Pub, if you want a beer or a meal you have to head across the railway line and road to an actual pub. The advertised breakfast included consisted of: help yourself to a half loaf of white bread and an assortment of jams or risk the weetbix that two young kids had already handled looking for the best bits. A couple of dirty mugs in the communal kitchen didn't invite me for a cup of tea or coffee. The toilets were poor on Saturday, on Sunday morning I walked across the railway line to use the public toilet in the park as it was 100% cleaner. This is not a Pub stay, it appears to be a combination of long term stay/halfway house, workers accommodation and anything leftover is available for tourists. Honestly, do not bother.

I booked a family room through Booking.com for $150 here at the Railway Hotel. On arrival, the door was locked and a sign directed me to call a number (unfortunately Vodafone does not work in Kandos). I drive round the back and waited for someone to show up, and I got a sense of the place... lots of shouting but basically looked desserted. I borrowed someones phone and called the hotel keeper. She showed me the room which looked fairly basic but clean enough. Just beds, no TV or bathroom or any mod cons. . I felt unsafe staying there with the kids. I would literally rather drive 4 hours back to Sydney and throw away $150 than stay there. So I did. The lady advised me to forget about a refund. They shouldnt advertise this as a hotel because it is not. Its a halfway house or some kind of emergency accomodation. I dont know. No offence. Its not a hotel.

Family stayed there the other night and it was just a dirty place. There looks to be permanent residents staying there who tried to sell my young son drugs. They were Yelling and screaming and the people seemed to be off their head with music blasting untill 3am in the morning from some blokes car in the carpark. Would Rather stay in a laneway in Shalvey at least you might find some breakfast close by.
