London Tavern Hotel reviews
3 Star Review by Blake T
Ambitiously priced, uninspired pub grub. Calamari (6/10): Well cooked and nicely flavoured by the mint, garlic and chilli however it came out cold. The sauce was so bland I couldn't tell what's in it. Chicken Parmigiana (6.5/10): Off to a bad start before I picked up my fork as it could have used some garnish for presentation as you can see from the photo. Decent parmi but the napolitana sauce lacked flavour. Chips and salad were nice. Overall underwhelming dishes which weren't worth the price.

What happened? Who hurt you?? I used to live for these pizzas. Once upon a time they were rectangular, perfectly cooked and wonderfully flavoured. My god. What I received today was an circular frisbee my dog wouldnt chase after had it been thrown across a park on a gorgeous summers day. The base; unrisen and stiff, not unlike a McCains frozen pizza with one of those red reduced to clear stickers on it. This place used to be home - youve destroyed my hopes and dreams of great pizza. What makes this worse, today I brought friends with me, proud, to introduce them to great pizza. What ever happened to the rectangular flatbread that made this place so good? Let the yeast do its job. The only thing that made tonight palatable was that wed found an excellent parking spot on Oxford street - amazing.

Staff are friendly and has a nice atmosphere inside, however food isnt so good. Ordered a ham and pineapple pizza and it was flavourless, and pretty pricy for $23. Should definitely go back to the old recipe square pizzas, those used to be delicious..

Whoops. Thought I was reviewing the London Hotel in Balmain, which is a classic worthy of 5-stars. Needed to edit this. I expected better from the London in Paddington. The pizzas were really disappointing, after a mate recommended them. Said they used to be great years ago. Not sure what happened. Plenty of five-heads to go around, but that comes with the territory.

Spicy Scorpion Pizza was very good. My friends got the Chicken Snitzel which they also enjoyed.
