The Bourbon reviews

5 Star Review by Nadene Greyling

We took our team of 9 out for drinks and a bite to eat last night (Saturday) and had a great night. The food and service was good and the live music provided by a solo musian was great. A nice mix of songs for everyone and not too loud so that we could still have a good chat. There was plenty of indoor and outdoor seating with a lot of options for seating and dining. Although the space is big it is cleverly laid out with differently styled areas so that it still feels cozy. You can chill on a couch with your drinks or sit at a more formal table. Great area too, wonderful vibe and great place to meet a great mix of people.

Without a slither of doubt, they serve one of the best parmis in Sydney. The mushroom sauce is a game changer - a local favourite Ive been frequenting for years.

Us baby boomers decided to take a trip down memory lane and visit the Bourbon Hotel as it was a frequent hangout for us in the 70's known then as the Bourbon & Beef Steak Bar! Not quite how we remember it but we had a very enjoyable and relaxing lunch. The food was excellent and the staff very professional and friendly.

Great venue, good food and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. We had a table for 9 people booked for 6pm, but our previous activity ran over. I called ahead to say that we were running late and was assured it wouldn't be a problem. We eventually arrived 45mins late, and they had held a table for us. The live music was great and we all had a great time, thanks!

So, admittedly we came in later on the evening, but... ordered the po' boy "popcorn shrimp" sandwich and tried to get some sort of draught beer. Not only do they have nothing on tap, but the sandwich was not popcorn shrimp. It was "po' boy-ish," but it was just three (3!) fried shrimp with tails on it *in a sandwich.* How the heck can you eat a sandwich when the shrimp in the sandwich still have their tails? What a joke Like, how do you even think that's OK to serve as a "popcorn shrimp po' boy sandwich?" I would have rather them told me the kitchen was closed, or that the item was unavailable than what they served. Will not go back.

A great old building and drinks at a reasonable price. There was no food available which was a shame. Sitting in the front inside area there were drains in the floor which had a fishy smell every time the wind changed direction.

Nice place to have a catch up with your friends

I'm not one for giving negative reviews but this pub needs to close down and undergo a serious renovation. There are currently no draft beer being served which is shameful for a pub. Don't get me started on the amenities and decor. Just think the worst and you'll be very close.

About to close for new development. No tap beer available only bottles that they are trying to get rid of.
