R.G. McGee's reviews

4 Star Review by Daniel Pattison

It's been a while since I last visited here. Yesterday 12.12.2022 I returned this time with my wife and daughter. We were impressed with everything to make this review short. Staff were excellent your chef is worthy of a Michelin star . I HIGHLY recommend this place. I would have given 5 stars but there is always room for improvement. See if you can wow us even more next time and I will change it to 5 stars. Thanks RG McGees

Excellent place for a pub meal. The price is quite high, but you definitely get what you pay for. I rarely finish an entire plate they are such big portions! A great atmosphere, a real fireplace, comfy booths and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating.

Pleasantly surprised. Have lived in the Hawkesbury for 12 years and never visited. But after reading the reviews and to add the venue to our 2022 dining challenge we gave it a try. What a lovely, friendly, inexpensive, delicious place to enjoy dinner. We are sorry it has taken us this long to try it. You won't be disappointed.

The cook that greets me everytime I pick up my meal (when returning in incessant loud beeper gadget) is most pleasant with his greeting and bidding us well in enjoying our meals. I just do not understand the large screens that show, seemingly, non-stop Thugby League or it's analysis by suited guys around a table. Personally I wish less agressive sports were shown such as kayak sprint or mountaineering or TdF videos were shown - after all, the 111km Hawkesbury Canoe Classic starts in the area each October, and rock-climbing in the Blue Mountains is accessed by driving through Richmond. Much road cycling happens throughout the Hawkesbury - and the Tour de France starts in Copenhagen on 1 July - maybe RG McGees can show this dynamic sporting and cultural event? I see little sense in the boofheads and push-and-fall-over of Rugby League - do those guys sponsor this pub? ____ Edit; Ordered meals on 2 January 2023, a public holiday. A manager(?) appears and asks bar-tenders how things were going. I was promptly forgotten, with the vibrating beeper handed to me as she spoke then only to her superior. Funny thing was; She was reporting that things were 'dead' on this early evening. Hence, she would have had time to give more personalised service to the customer before her - and the manager/owner(?) could have given body language to her to serve me.
