Thoroughbred Hotel reviews

5 Star Review by Brett Campany

Fantastic food, dropped in at our half way point of a 500km ride and tucked into a massive burger & chips along with a local Steel City Pale Ale. Top way to put some food into the belly! Really nice hotel, great bars and a brilliant outdoor area where we could keep an eye on the bikes. Will be back for sure!

The Thoroughbred is a great find! Accommodation, dinner + drinks, and breakfast, all in the one spot. The room and bed were comfy. Meals were delicious (300g Black Angus steak, and a grilled snapper). Great wine list. Breakfast bacon and egg roll for husband. And a gluten free banana bread for me, with excellent coffees for breakfast. Everyone of the staff, both in the evening, and the morning, were polite. Happy. And helpful. We couldnt be happier. Thank you

Stopped for lunch on our way through. They were very welcoming of me and my service dog. Food was fantasitic. Didn't see the rooms but judging by the restaurant and beer garden it's so lovely and clean so guessing the rooms would also be good

Very prompt service, coffee was great. The Breakfast brushetta was one of the best I've tried and the poached eggs were perfectly cooked. My wife had the Breakfast wrap it was very nice also. Definitely be back.

Service was friendly and welcoming. Atmosphere was lovely. I ordered the cheese burger and the patty smelt so bad of off meat that we sent it back. My friend got the ravioli that wasn't cooked and her husband had the chicken burger. The chicken was cooked and had no smell but it was extremely salty. I sent the cheese burger back and overheard the cook saying that 'it all came out of the same bag' being that the only other meal on the table was chicken, this mortified me. Both of my friends were unfortunately sick as a result of how bad the food is. Hopefully not food poisoning. Only saving grace is the service from the staff. I recommend the owners firing the chef.

Nice place

Sept 2022..A Pint of Guinness is now a thing of the past here. It has been taken off Bar much to the dismay of a bunch of loyal Guinness drinkers. It still seems this place has an bit of an identity crisis..is it a pub, a bar, a bakery or a restaurant? Restaurant is good with modern menu. Service can be slow, but staff are generally very nice. The bar is often unmanned in afternoons, so it's position as a pub bar is a bit cloudy. Bakery is OK, pies are nice however. Nice outdoor beer garden at rear.
