General Washington Hotel reviews
4 Star Review by Shane Goodwin
Nice pub with a standard beer selection (no craft or boutique beers here). The meals are a good selection of the usual pub grub and serving sizes are huge. The amenities while dated were clean and tidy.
3 Star Review by S. McMahon
This pub has been here for a while, you can tell just be looking at it. It reminds me of a regional town pub because of its older looks. Pub food was standard, service was attentive but the kids playroom needs some restorations and inspirations.
5 Star Review by Daniel Hynes
Great pub with a relaxed atmosphere, great food and courteous, friendly staff

Service from waitress at the bar was great. Service from waitresses at kitchen was terrible. Food awful. Garlic bread dry and nasty, no garlic flavour. My pasta with prawn and mussels basically tasted like a can of Heinz tomato sauce had been tipped in. Shockers
5 Star Review by Philip Berkhout
Nice views from the restaurant, looking across to Newcastle and their working harbour. Great pub meals a available and friendly service. Beer is cold too.

On Wednesday the 11th of January I went in to the hotel for take away fish and chips. The waitress said it was beer battered Barramundi. Chips and salad. $29.00. When the gave me the fish and chips in the box. I head for my car. As I was hungry I open the box before I got to the car. And the salad was missing. I I go back. The chef bring out a small amount of salad in a plastic container warp in cling. So I leave. I decided to eat it on the way as it looked more like flat head then it did Barramundi. The fish was very ordinary. Didnt taste like Barra. And was sun standard. When I arrived home I decided to have the salad. Well the salad what there was on it was wet soft and looked a day old. So I throw it away. For $29.00 it was way over priced and for restaurant food I will not be going back.
