Rydges Sydney Harbour reviews

5 Star Review by Lewis Jordan

Location is absolutely fantastic with the most amazing views of the harbour and the Opera House from the roof top pool. The room was as you'd expect from a hotel, clean and comfortable - could do with a little maintenance but no big deal. We had the buffet breakfast which was very nice - $22 for adults and $10 for kids. Overall, great hotel and would highly recommend

We have recently stayed at this hotel as we always do when in Sydney. We love this hotel it's location, ambience, cleanliness (housekeeping staff do an amazing job). The dining area and staff provide a beautiful buffet breakfast. The reception staff are very helpful and efficient. The Lobby Bar is great and in particular Cassie who has fantastic people skills.

Nice looking looking hotel at the Harbour. On first seeing and entering it looks very nice and worthy of the star rating. Service is good. Room service is and food generally is very expensive for what you get and gave me an upset tummy. Rooms are pretty small and looking a bit tired and run down. Bathroom is poor. Bathroom definitely needs an upgrade and freshened up. Shower is impossible to use, either you get roasting hot water or freezing cold. Pressure is non existent compared to others. Bed is ok and everything was clean. As said staff are nice but probably would stay somewhere else next time.

Good location. Clean hotel. A bit dated. Friendly staff. Really comfortable beds with a selection of pillows. Small fireplace to sit around in the winter. Good breakfast selection. Small bar area for a night cap. Heated pool and spa.

First time I've stayed here chose because we were jumping on a cruise location doesn't get any better 800metre easy walk to the cruise terminal. Lovely friendly clean hotel rooms not elegant but we'll appointed clean and everything we needed. The front desk staff were super friendly and very obliging.

This hotel used to be a Holiday Inn, from what I heard. It is dated and clearly needs to be remodeled. The carpet is filthy and looks like it hasn't been changed in a few decades. 'I'll start with the pros. Good location - walking distance to the Harbour, Opera House and lots of restaurants, shopping. Breakfast is decent, but if you go later, chances are that they've run out of some of the items and will not replenish them. The cons - I don't know where to begin. I was given the worst room in the hotel, in one corner. It was a very small room and clearly hadn't been cleaned well. There was hair everywhere, and big mosquitoes hovering in the room. The sink and tub were dirty. When I let the front office manager know, she offered to move me to a lower floor, but the room would be the same size. I declined the offer. No one ever answers the phone at the reception, so either you have to go downstairs or send them an email. There's no concept of customer service. The staff is indifferent and hasn't been trained to handle customer complaints. I asked for a laundry bag and was told that there's one in the drawer in the closet. They kept arguing when I told them that I didn't see any. I was talking to another guest from Canada and she said the same thing about the rooms. She moved to another room. I had to leave at 6.30 am, so I asked them to pack me breakfast. I was told that I could get only dry cereal and pastries. I let them know that I don't eat that stuff and could they pack me a cheese sandwich instead? No, they couldn't. Do not bother staying at this lousy hotel, there are better hotels in the area. I cancelled my reservation here for the second part of my stay. There is no way I would go back and stay at this filthy place for almost $300/night. Do NOT waste your money and find a better hotel.

Found this hotel in a last-minute scramble to stay in the Sydney CBD during a flight layover. So delighted my elbows are tingling. Older building, but the staff were pros, spoiled me 'cause I'm a member (try booking direct!), Free WiFi, walked in to the room to see a direct view of the Opera House, and the best surprise was after we checked-in; They have a rooftop pool with a view of the Harbour Bridge *and* the Opera House. Only gave 4 stars 'cause it's not a stoopid-expensive corporate hotel with spas in every room (haha etc), but it's awesome for where and what it is. Well done team.

just the location. the dilapidated state, the noise due to non-soundproofed rooms, old smells, ineffective cleaning service, swimming pool area not in accordance with the photos and dirty, no response to emails during the stay, not enough breakfasts. The photo is that of the room after the passage of the housekeeping! The management sucks! They are completely ignorant.
