Grand Hotel WYONG reviews

3 Star Review by Robyn Lecky

I had lunch in their restaurant with a group of friends and most of us found the food tasty. My veal scallopini was not hot enough but tasted good. The smell of stale cigarette smell in restaurant was very strong, not good at all. Don't think I would go back again because of it sadly.

The hotel was extremely neat and tidy. It looked like it had been recently refurbished. The bed were comfortable and super well made - thanks to the Housekeeping team! This will be our go to place in the central coast.

Very trendy and newly renovated rooms. Clean and fresh looking with comfortable bed. We had dinner downstairs in the adjoining Grand Hotel which was very convenient after traveling all day.

Sorry guys, but had to give you 1 star for the fact that our room and bathroom and also my friends room had mold. Not cool. But maybe you dont know that mold is a serious health hazard? I could smell the damp, musty mold as soon as I walked in. The bathroom doesnt have enough ventilation and the smaller room with the skylight had serious condensation when we arrived late in the evening. No amount of painting over it is going to get rid of it either because I noticed there is water damage. Besides this extremely serious concern, the beds, towels, and other amenities were great.

November 12 king studio was near front entrance and main door clanged til late Saturday night and early Sunday morning. My daughter and family were in family suite with no air con in kids room and air con in main bedroom dripped all night! Window would not open and no lighting apart from two bedside lamps!

Literally booked this place on the morning of, due to a last minute change of plans, and found this place was available and decently priced. Did not want to pay 700+ for one night to stay at Crowne Terrigal. The staff are great, however wish that I was advised of the free wifi and login details included in the room key case (discovered this the next morning before checking out). The hotel is located on a main road across from a train station. I could not hear any trains, however, did hear several ambulance sirens go past, even with the white noise I had playing for my baby (my room was situated on the main road side). One thing to note, there are no stairs, which I wish I had known about. It was logistically challenging to carry a baby, large suitcase, travel cot, large heavy handbag/baby bag on my own. I had to climb 2 sets of stairs. There are ground floor rooms, but obviously I had booked the last available room at the time, so had no choice. I ordered food from the restaurant and had to collect it (I assumed it was room service as per the leaflet that stated room delivery). The food was okay. I ordered a medium steak, but it was cooked medium well. The steamed vegetables were generous (carrot and broccolini) no seasoning/flavour. I also ordered the pancakes with Nutella (it was topped with sliced strawberries and some type of chocolate flavoured sauce). Not sure why they packed the disposable cutlery inside the takeaway box on top of the pancakes, the serviette and cutlet were covered in sauce. I was pleasantly surprised by the room itself. It could have been a little bigger, but was comfortable. The bed had nice clean sheets and pillows, and was comfortable to sleep in. My room had a microwave, decent 1.7L kettle, and coffee, tea. The arnotts biscuits packets were a nice touch, but a little stale. There were plates, mugs, dishwashing liquid, tea towel. I realised this review is getting quite long, so heres my pro/con list that I wrote: Pros Big 1.7L kettle Newly refurbished- everything nice and new Big shower head + handheld shower head Full length mirror Kitchenette: microwave, kettle, dishwashing liquid, plates, mugs Soft close toilet lid Bed is comfortable Sheets and towels are soft Cons No where to hang hand towel No proper place to store ironing board - propped against wall No lift - I wish I had known and would have booked a room on the ground floor. I had to carry a baby, large suitcase, travel cot and large handbag/baby bag up a flight of stairs No tissues/tissue box Leftover food from previous guest in fridge. Fridge not cold, no visible thermostat available to reduce temperature On main road - can hear traffic/sirens from emergency vehicles No blockout curtains - room is bright very early in the morning Would I stay here again, probably.
