This place is amazing. I went for dinner Friday night, staff were incredibly attentive with the manager checking in on us multiple times. The steak was tender and cooked to perfection, meat lovers pizza one of the best Ive eaten. Schnitty and kids meals great value for money and really tasty. We will definitely be back.

Hotel Illawong was an absolutely incredible stay. My friends and I (3 Americans) were backpacking down the coast and came across this bar. We learned it was a hotel, booked a stay, and it was easily the nicest accommodation we stayed in the whole trip. Its not the nicest in the world compared to some luxury resort, but for a few backpackers it was far nicer than any hostel or motel we stayed at for a fraction of the cost. Was very impressed with the whole staff too. Sunny, the GM, in particular was exceptionally welcoming and friendly. This was a bright spot on our holiday, and Ill be talking about the stay here for years.

We had lunch there yesterday and left disappointed with the quality of the food. We had Beer battered fish and salt and pepper squid. The fish was dripping in fat, the fries were dried up and the squid was over cooked and looked like something you would use for bait. The salad was tasty but there wasnt much of it. One cherry tomato cut in half and some salad leaves. Way overpriced at $28 for fish and $18 for the squid. I dont mind paying for quality food but this was well below average. Sadly we wont be back

Good cold drinks. Friendly staff who worked efficiently to provide what we wanted. Good memory from one bartender who remembered our orders when we came back each time. It was reasonably busy.

Food that we had was ordinary at best. I've come a number of times over the years and the quality always fluctuates. This time I had the mushroom and haloumi burger, says it had slaw but instead had a few pieces of baby spinach. It's not hard to cook haloumi but was a rubbery. Got it on the cheaper night i'd feel more taxed had it been the full price of $19 Happy to let that slide but the real rort was the $28 beer battered fish that was way too overcooked and was deep brown. Looked like it had been fried 3 times. Batter just cracked off and the fish of course was dry and in parts indistinguishable from the batter. Salad was something a uni student whose moved out of home for the first time would put together. I can't believe it's $28. They offered a complimentary drink but doesn't exactly make up for a mediocre overpriced meal The gnocchi sounds like it's going to be mushroomy but was mostly tomato sauce and thick bits of onion. The chips which came with the burger and fish were good enough. I'd stick with the pizzas. Maybe the steaks are alright but not my thing.

(dined here) Good location, great food. Always a good choice.

Brilliant spot, the service is out of this world and is located in such a central spot, too. It's just fairly expensive and not worth the money you have to pay to eat and drink there :(

This pub is beautiful in everyway except for the meals. They are overpriced, small and flavourless. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but if you don't know, you can't change it! So know you know.

Decent pub, good selection of beers. Missed out on 5 because the big barman was more interested in his phone than the queue at the bar
