Fairmont Resort reviews
5 Star Review by Aaron Tong
Luggage was picked up by concierge and sent to our interconnected rooms while I queued at check-in. A bit of a wait at reception but more than made up for by the surprise gifts to all the children present who squealed with delight. Hotel grounds are pleasant and scenic. Rooms a bit dated but all made up nicely with sofa bed prepared for additional guests. Large resort with many kids oriented facilities available and family friendly. Restaurants quite booked up for dinner and had to order room service which fortunately came fast and was of good quality. Overall a good experience and probably one of the best out there in the Blue Mountains for families with kids.

Firstly let me say the hotel and grounds are beautiful, the staff are friendly and very helpful but unfortunately this is where the positive ends. Every month my wife and I will spend a Friday and Saturday night at a top chain Hotel just for a weekend get away, we will always stay in one of the best rooms available. We were both very excited to be staying at the Fairmont for the first time. We booked the King Superior Room and were expecting it to live up to the superior rooms we have stayed in at other hotels. Unfortunately it was a huge let down. At over $500 a night I expect the little things to be met or even exceeded. The room was average size with a bed and a lounge. The mini bar was empty so if you wanted anything from the mini bar it had to be ordered through room service. There wasnt even so much as a complimentary bottle of water. There was no coffee machine, just instant coffee with a jug that looked like it was from the 80s. Room service had a very very very limited choice option and was only available till 9pm where as most big chained hotels have a nice big selection and available till midnight if not 24 hours. If you are confined to a wheelchair or have difficulty walking then restaurants for breakfast or Italian for dinner would be very difficult as there are stairs and no lift. I am glad I did stay here just to see what it was like but I dont think I would stay again. As mentioned before at over $500 a night it just didnt live up to my expectations or match the experience I have had in other big chained hotels Geoff Perry

Good part: There are many indoor and out door activities. The indoor swimming pool and spa were really good. The garden was well designed with blooming flowers in the spring. Sad part: The hotel is lake of maintain and the room was not properly cleaned. Socks and lollipops found in the room. Also the soundproofing of the room was not good. The restaurant, Embers Grills, was disappointing, they missed the entree, over cooked steak and the Brussels sprouts burnt. The service was fine though and the manager waved the side dish, but still not pleasant experience. Overall, there are a few areas need to be improved and do not recommend if you want to spend most of your time in the resort.

Someone should have advised that restaurants at the resort should be booked well in advance as all eateries were fully booked. With four children in tow this was a problem - fortunately solved by having bar food. Our room was as tired as the resort seems generally with dirty carpets and a cracked sink. Kids amenities are good, particularly the pools. Another positive is the staff who are polite and accommodating - except for the rude woman on reception who was particularly snippy. Just what you need on arrival.. Couldnt get the TV to work either. I dont think I could recommend anyone to stay here. Denis.

We stayed here for two nights. We enjoyed our stay as its a beautiful spot, but I think the hotel is in need of some upgrades. The rooms were dated with old stained carpet. The bath tub was chipped and old. The building itself could do with a paint as when you walk around the front gardens its very mouldy and just worn looking. With a fresh paint it would look so much more inviting. The layout of hotel is good. Reception area needs new furniture as they have very dated lounges that look old and dirty. Reception staff were excellent. Very helpful and accommodating. Concierge were very friendly. It is not within walking distance from Leura town but a beautiful outlook over the blue mountains.

If the Fairmont Resort had qualified staff, it would be an excellent place to stay. However, despite the nice amenities at the resort and decent room, everything is marred by a complete lack of service. We made reservations at two of the restaurants, and both times when we arrived no tables were ready for us (family of 3). Service was incredibly slow everywhere. At embers, families who sat after us had their orders taken and were served while we were ignored. Eventually, I had to ask for someone to take my order. I was looking forward to having a ribeye, but the restaurant had already sold out. It was only 6 pm, so that tells me that the kitchen wasn't even prepared. At Azzurro, again I had to ask to have our orders taken, and the food came out, but the waiter never brought our drinks. I had to get his attention, which took some time, and ask that be given the drinks we ordered. We finally received them halfway through our meal. Housekeeping leaves a little to be desired as well. When I was making coffee in the room, I found that the milk carton in the refrigerator was opened and half used. While there were a few great staff there, the overwhelming majority seemed like summer hires that had no interest in actually performing their jobs. I was really looking forward to staying at Fairmont Resort with my family, but this was a real disappointment and I doubt I would stay here again were we to return to the Blue Mountains. Further, if this hotel is representative of the Accor brand, I will think twice before booking any more Accor hotels.
