Family Hotel MAITLAND reviews

Came in for lunch after driving by and seeing the beer and Texas BBQ signs out the front. Haven't been since the hospital shut down and new owners bought it and they've done a great job revamping the place. American Decor, Texas style BBQ food in the restaurant and a great selection of drinks and cocktails. I reckon I've found my new favourite bar in Maitland. The service was great. We got the 2 person bbq platter which was definitely enough food once we added some wings. My only critique is the chicken and pork were a little dry, but all was tasty and I will definitely be coming back!

After looking up somewhere in Maitland that would be serving at 3pm yesterday, we came across this place. After pulling up we werent sure because it looked quiet. But WOW. Such a great venue with awesome food, big portions and reasonable price. 4 adults and 3 kids all happy and relaxed. The guy behind the bar was great too. Kids loved watching the footy while they ate. We are from Newcastle and will definitely be going out of our way to go back here again!!!

We went to the Family Hotel today for the first time and it didn't disappoint. The pub has been beautifully renovated, great service and the food was just amazing. We had the pig out for two of delicious smoked meats and house made sauces. We will definitely be back. If you are in a car or motorbike club there is plenty oof great parking.

The good stuff: The place is nice, staff are friendly, menu selection and drinks selection are good. The brisket was spot on. The not so good stuff: They were overwhelmed even with just a few customers. Our food took forever and our plates came out miles apart from each other, meaning we had to start eating without each other (they did provide a free round of drinks and apologise). The fries were burnt and crunchy as hell, hardly ate any of them. The kids chicken had a funny taste (we had four separate plates all up and tried them all) had a funny taste and none of the kids liked it. Maybe a simpler kids menu would be a good idea.

Absolutely love this place! We are locals and only rediscovered this place a few weeks ago. We had been in the past, but that was before Rudy's restaurant had arrived. We had a great experience here with our six kids and knew we would return. Saturday night, we had two other families visiting and our dinner plans fell through, so I recommended we all go to Rudy's. They did not disappoint. When I called and asked if they could accommodate 15 people in the next half an hour, they didn't hesitate, "I can make that work," I was told. We arrived to be greated by the man who took my booking and shown to our table they had organised for us. The service was fast and friendly, and the food, once again, was delicious. The menu is fantastic with many options and some great daily specials. The price is quite reasonable and the serving sizes are huge. Speaking of serving sizes, I took on the burger challenge and, just managed to finish in time to make the wall of fame. We will definitely be returning as it is not often we can find a place that can leave my wife, my daughter, my five sons and myself completed satisfied and delighted with our experience.

I am giving a review based on stay only. I didnt had lunch or dinner from there, hence no comments on food. Stay was alright only and everything there is old fashioned. It's a old building with everything in there is old. Aircon was old too and it Took 10 minutes to start. Customer service was great. Not everyone will like it. Common toilet. Not my taste to be honest.

I think they put crack in the cornbread - it is so good I could eat it all day! The kiddos like to come to Rudy's for special occasion meals & they like to get a platter to share. There is so much food on the platters that we always end up taking a bunch of meat home which they snack on the next day. It is a great spot for a group gettogether but a bit too noisy for intimate meals. The only issue I have (and the reason for only 4 stars) is it is absolutely freezing in winter & as the heating seems to be a large open fire it really needs to be lit first thing in the morning if they want a pleasant temperature by lunch.

Best food, service and drinks tonight. Took my husband and his family for dinner for his birthday and nothing was too much trouble. The bar and restaurant were amazingly helpful. The food was so fresh and cocktails were sensational. Cannot recommend this pub highly enough. Everyone had the best night.

Recently moved to the maitland area around 12 months ago, in that time rudys has become our local. It has been our go to if we are stumped on dinner plans due to consistently high quality food and service. There is a good rotation of beers on tap if you are after something different, good size spirits selection. A personal favourite is not having pokies or gambling facilities and focusing on the food and drinks instead.
