The people here are amazing ... from the bar staff to the bottle shop staff to the housekeeping staff ... everyone is so friendly, helpful and welcoming. We were in town for a wedding at Horizons. The location was perfect for the event we attended. I'd stay here again and take advantage of the pub and local activities. You can tell the rooms have been updated ... to a point. Everything you need is supplied. The rooms are still a pub hotel room. We slept well.

The renovations to the pub are great, I hadn't been here in over a year, maybe two so the changes were brand new to me. Cool Irish Pub vibe with live music. Was there on a Sat night for a friend's birthday and we had exclusive use of the Library Room, a nook next to the kitchen, was great with booth seating.

Just a really nice atmosphere inside the hotel. The furniture is a bit dark but it's probably the look they wanted. Anyway it's my go-to place to eat dinner when I want to have a night off from cooking, so convenient for me.

This is a review for accommodation at this venue. We have stayed in the accommodation here before and, as before, the rooms are basic but clean, tidy and comfortable. Unfortunately the "bloke" who wandered out from the pub to check us in (after we could make someone hear us ringing the desk bell multiple times,) needed a personality transplant, not professionally dressed, no greeting or welcome, it was like we were intruding on his time, no helpful information, had to ask for a receipt, and although we already knew, no guidance on how to get to our room, no information on where to return the key. Also, be aware the accommodation is upstairs and there is no lift so if stairs are a problem you may like to consider alternative arrangements. The Southend Hotel could really lift it's game by giving their staff some training in customer relations and politeness.

Some items are not waiting, the light n heater. Location is very good. Bar, liquor shop n pokey gaming in the same building. No lifts. All rooms are on 1st floor. Mini market right next door. Washing machine available.

Okay hotel, fine for a night, could definitely be better. The welcome did not feel warm, seemed rushed. It smells very musty in the room, otherwise it is neat and the bed is fine. There is a small hand soap in the bathroom and some coffee, tea and milk is available. Besides the room there is nothing, no lobby or public toilet. The bar was also closed both days. There was a somewhat strange atmosphere in the hotel, so there were only corridors with rooms and nothing else. We could leave our luggage for an hour, close to the beach and next to a small shopping center!

stayed a night here and the staff were lovely . they couldn't have been more accommodating with my baby too . rooms were very clean and quite spacious . would definitely stay again .
