Lawson Park Tavern reviews

2 Star Review by Nick

Theres nothing like ordering from the menu only to be told a main component isnt available anymore and when it arrives for collection, the replacement isnt even in it either! Have eaten here twice in a week. Steaks are soupy and theres no char/crust. Chips taste double cooked but at least the steamed veg was well done. Wait staff are nice and seemingly competent however, so my thanks goes to them.

I had a lamb salad .. tasty and filling. More lamb than I expected and it was cooked just right. Cost $20 which is reasonable for a main meal. This is a family friendly pub with plenty of different areas to sit down and enjoy a meal. When staying in Mudgee thus us a place I can rely on for a good meal.

5 Star Review by Simon Hazelbrook

A cold beer in the front bar watching the world go past, pleasant. We enjoyed the Thai Beef Salad and side dish of Brussel Sprouts and Bacon. Overall very enjoyable.

3 Star Review by Jessie Cullen

Steak itself was good, if a little pricey. Sides were shocking. Mash was sloppy and the "mac and cheese" was very slightly sauced pasta with some cheese melted on top. Both were barely edible. Salad and chips are probably the safest bet here. Red wine jus was nice, diane sauce was not. Probably wouldn't go back or recommend. Overall it was a pretty disappointing meal, particularly for the price.

When you order the $140 florantina steak, at 1.4 kg you expect it cooked to perfection. Medium rare for us. The t-bone was not grilled but stewed, it looked and tasted like a dogs breakfast. They obviously could not cook the thick cut of meat so sliced it up put it in the oven, it was like a bad roast, than piled all the slices of meat on top of each over. It was embarrassing that they could even serve that.

Ordered the duck main, it was under cooked , and tough as , probably a water fowl from the local river. Husband ordered south Australia mussels ,worst dish ever, as a main.

Went there for dinner and the food was fantastic. Make sure you book a table as the place was busy.
