Civic Hotel reviews

5 Star Review by Tarina Warren

This is a fantastic boutique hotel in an amazing location in a fabulous city. Like the rest of Newcastle, the staff are super friendly and helpful. Perfectly located near the wharf, easy access to public transport and on buses and trams. The hotel has an amazing bar and restaurant with a large beer garden out the back to enjoy the fantastic weather. The food is also great and there is a wide range of local beers on offer. Call regular live music and a laid-back atmosphere make this a fantastic place to stay while you are visiting Newcastle.

Came here for dinner and drinks in the beer garden area. If was lovely, portion size a little small for the price you pay. But there is live music on fri and sat which created a good atmosphere. Overall a good place for chill for a quick feed/drink.

We stayed there whilst the Jazz Festival was on at the town hall The position was absolute spot on we could walk to the venue. Relish next door had fabulous breakfasts and the Clarendons own restaurant great food as well. The staff were most obliging and helpful so what more could you want. I was a little concerned it would be noisy but the room was quiet as it had double glazed windows. Highly recommend staying there.

I love this place. They have a really nice beer garden out the back and I think it's dog-friendly. The food is really delicious and I really like the staff. Great customer service without being pretentious. We went for dinner before a show at civic theatre last night and the best thing was that the restaurant was clearly under pressure from the amount of people pre-show but none of that stress came out to us. The staff speak nicely and are very good at organising things without making a fuss. I had salmon fillet with lemon butter sauce and greens. Beautifully cooked and not too huge. My sister had linguine with lovely fresh cherry tomatoes and she said it was the nicest pasta she'd had for ages. Congratulations to everyone working in the restaurant last night. We had a lovely dinner, thank you

Very close to everything Civic Theatre , town hall , museums and waterfront. Great food at the restaurant , fantastic bar staff very helpful and polite. Parking is not available on-site but there is secure parking in Argyle St about 350 metres away easy flat walk.

I'd rather perform circumcision on myself with a rusty blade, then come back here again

3 Star Review by Charmaine Dickson

The room was basic and serviceable for our needs but all 4 pillows had a funky damp smell that was unpleasant to sleep on . The furnishings are dated and need a revamp.
