Rydges Newcastle reviews
5 Star Review by Helen Prior
We stayed for two nights as an extended family group, in two adjoining ground floor rooms (022 and 023). This was a brilliant set up and fitted 6 of us with ease. We had a lovely outlook onto the gardens/playground and then the water. Rooms were spacious and extremely quiet. Bathrooms do need an upgrade but that is my only criticism! We loved the location, right by a bunch of good waterfront eateries and with a convenience store just across the road. The hotel restaurant/bar is also really nice. We will definitely stay here again when we are back in Newcastle! Highly recommend.

Great views, secure parking was good, staff excellent and the room very comfortable. The room we had featured a spa bath, I really wish they either put in a separate shower or remove the spa bath as getting into the shower over the bath is difficult and has big slip dangers. Everything other than the shower was good.

Our twin room water view was really spacious with a sliding door that closes off the sitting area and kitchenette. Comfy beds, nice linen, not brand new place but a feeling of luxury and amazing location right in front of the waterfront promenade. It's quiet in the rooms, only one ship horn broke the silence during the day, and it's walking distance to Nobby's Beach AND to so much more nearby, and in Darby Street.

Held our Practice Christmas party at Rydges Newcastle on Friday night. Venue, food and service were excellent. Tables were beautifully presented with linen cloths and Christmas themed. Waitstaff were lovely and attentive, food was exceptional! Everyone had a great night, made possible by the team at Rydges Newcastle. Thank you.

Stayed with my family, has restored my trust in Rydges! The room was great price and massive! Loved house it had 2 separate rooms lots of extra pillows and blankets so didnt have to bother room service and the door hanger was a great idea to not have your room made up and get $10 off each time love it! And the view is amazing too! Had dinner in the room that was amazing as well. Only down sides was room is very far away from exit so a very long walk, had issues getting through to room service and parking is limited and expensive if you are driving but if those things dont both you then you will love this place! Will stay again

We went for lunch in the restaurant a week before Xmas. There were 9 of us. Ready to enjoy the festive season. The booking was made in October. When we arrived there was no booking for us and it was made in person at Rydges. We sat just near the bar and thats where we stayed. The restaurant had a buffet lunch on and there were lots of spare tables. We were told no room in restaurant. we had to put the rickety tables together at differing heights. No table service for drinks. The only saving grace was the chef!!! Food was excellent. The staff appeared to be undertrained. Not really interested in trying to resolve issues. We spent as a group close to $900. Rydges .......as a large recognised Australian hospitality brand you really need to do better. Is this your best and as a proud Novocastrian....embarassing.

Great Location Rooms need a Good Clean & upgrade. A little bit dated. TV was so slow & internet was very Slow.. Mould on walls & Curtains, Not a Great Look at all. Couldn't use Spa & paid alot extra to have a Spa Suite. Didn't get any help from Staff when bought to there attention HOWEVER Manager upon Checkout gave a 30% Discount off our Total Bill because of what happened.

Stayed in Newcastle for 2 days and stayed at the Rydges Hotel by the sea. The location is next to the museum, there are convenient transportation and restaurants around, and the supermarket is also very convenient. The hotel has relatively complete facilities, equipped with a swimming pool, can hold weddings and conferences, has laundry services and parking services, and the price is reasonable. The staff are warm and friendly. The breakfast in the restaurant is relatively simple, and it can only be said to be quite satisfactory. The hotel rooms are relatively old and small. Some corners have not been cleaned, and the tableware has not been cleaned. This needs to be paid attention to. I hope you can pay more attention to these details next time you stay.

The harbor view room looks like very tired need a renovation ,there are only 2 lifts in the whole building, not really convenient when you have a lots of luggages walking approx 200 m to get in the lifts or to your room . The brekkie have a very limited choice , the wharf 350 restaurant is good value for the money Great location
