This is my kind of pub. Massive bar in the middle makes it easy to get on a bar stool to enjoy. Everyone is close to the bar. Rebuilt in the 1930s, it is a historic building. Food was v good. Coopers is on tap. I love Stockton.

Ordered the chicken snitty and chips for take away with a garlic bread. Got home and it looked like someone elses left overs. Very small and cold. Definitely will never eat there again!!!! Pathetic!!

Once new owners settle in there's a lot of work required to to bring shower area up to date and no coffee tea etc available in kitchen and could do with s good scrub ..locals were most welcoming .I had bangers and mash would not recommend it for the price

Great old school pub take a walk back in time. Good beer great meals reasonably priced to. Will definitely be back at some stage. So since I was last there its changed hands but still seems the same.

Seems like the bistro has changed proprietors. Previous star rating of 5 has changed to one. I have given it two goes. 1st time I ordered the fish and chips with salad. The fish was a random frozen peice that was oily and yuk. The salad was various leaves in a preprepared mix with little dressing. The chips were good, seemingly the only ingredients prepared fresh. Today I had the curry prawns and rice. The prawns were totally over cooked and had their tail on, even though presented in a thick gravy. Imagine trying eat them without coating your fingers in rice and gravy. The flavour was non existent and it was a waste of time and money. Twice to learn, but third time a lover. I don't intend to travel there again.

Very poor service in the Bistro, meals not as ordered and poorly cooked. Very disappointing.
