Boyle's Sutherland Hotel reviews

4 Star Review by Samantha O'Regan

My partner and I run trivia once a week, otherwise it has great food, good service and staff. Hard to get parking at times, never rented a room there. There isn't much to do here other than gamble, play darts, drink and eat more of a place to go for conversation. Sometimes has live music.

I ate in the restaurant on Wednesday night with friends and the food was fantastic. I had the slow cooked lamb with linguine and it was absolutely delicious. The lamb was melt in the mouth tender, just perfect. The meals were served quickly, were all generous portions and piping hot. We all enjoyed our meals and had a great night. 10/10

Stopped in here for for dinner after the Sharks beat the Eels. Meals were quick to come out, but admittedly we were the only 6 people in the bistro at the time. Burgers, schnitzel, nachos and bruschetta were all good. Beer battered chips are excellent. Now, here is the downside to this place- While standing at the bar waiting for a couple of drinks, I hear this crash behind me and turn to find a couple in their 60's falling to the floor. Thinking they had just tripped or something I go to help them up, only to discover the Muppet employed as security fighting with another 60+ year old man, and swinging him about violently. The old guy would have weight 70kg wringing wet, while macho security dude was a good 90kg of blubber. What elicited such a reaction from the security guy I don't know, but I do reckon the reaction and the use of force was well in excess of what was required. The old guy had a look of shock and confusion on his face. The couple on the floor were dazed and confused, and security dude had lost the plot totally. Apart from looking like a homeless person, the only indication he was security was the writing on the back of his shirt. From front on, he looked like a bloke who had one too many drinks and in need of a shower. Management, you need to have a good look at this bloke and his attitude towards patrons. I normally don't question the actions of security when dealing with obviously drunk people, but this group of senior citizens posed no threat to anyone in a near empty pub.
