Great historic pub in Sutherland. The food is very tasty and up to standard the portions are also large, the Royal has a good amount of options on the menu including a decent amount of seafood. Offering two pool tables and two outdoor areas it is deceptively spacious for a small pub. Great staff, very welcoming.

Good food good atmosphere very busy on a Friday night, but service is quick. Had the basic chicken Parma it was good about the size of my face - so a good size. And the chips were crispy and not soggy which is always a plus. My wife had the surf and turf, the prawns for that were excellent. We also got some mushroom sauce with it but that seemed to be gravy with mushrooms in it so not the best mushroom sauce, but it went well with my chips so that was great. Has a play area for the kids and a good family atmosphere (not much swearing) - with lots of other kids to play with while my kids waited for their food. For the kids meal I'd recommend the spaghetti as it was a generous size very yummy.

Great staff, welcoming and want to help out that extra bit finding items asked for or making your requests there top priority. Food was great and was fast leaving the kitchen, even when the place was 80% full. The beer was cold which is great. And the over all atmosphere was good. A nice place for lunch or dinner for sure
