Stopped here for lunch as hankering after pub food. Looks a bit shabby from the outside but the bistro is bright, airy and spacious. Good option for families. Roaring log fire to boot. Food was tasty and big portions. The sides of steamed veg are obviously frozen not fresh, but my bangers and mash was tasty and got the toddlers approval. Husbands pie was also well received. Would stop by again.

Top marks for this authentic charmer of an Aussie country pub, with its spacious function/dining room, fun & down-to-earth bar and affordable accommodation that doesnt disappoint. Under new ownership with Tony who seems to understand what people like. Theres plenty of parking. Picnic tables and covered seating out back for the nicer weather too, and am easy walk to railway station, shops & other eateries.

Payed good money for a small plain room with no heating and only one blanket on the bed. Not ideal for a cold winter night despite the electric blanket which only keeps part of you warm. Staff begrudgingly gave me another blanket when I asked for one. TV was not much bigger than a postage stamp. Dont think Ill be staying here again.

Waited for 51 minutes for our food after ordering, and we were starving by the time the food came out. Our hunger meant we tried to scoff down some insanely dry schnitzels and choked as we had already finished our two rounds of beers, and the schnitzel was straight out of a packet. Its been a while since I tasted cardboard, but that would be much juicier than what we got! Whilst the pot pie tasted good, it was also dry and could use more Guinness to offset the flaky crust. All in all, not worth the 50 bucks paid (70+ including beers), and one of the most disappointing pub lunches Ive had. Not sure how you stuff up schnitzel and chips, but these guys clearly do!

So very very noisy. Not a place for a quiet drink and enjoyable ambiance. Cutlery being handled in the lounge bar drowning out the loud music. Only a handful of patrons present. The bare floorboards echoing the noise makes it impossible to have a conversation let alone an enjoyable experience. One drink was enough to realise this isnt a place to spend time.

Most affordable spot I found in Blackheath ($40 AUD/night per person for 2 in a shared room, with shared bath situation) for climbers on a budget just trying to maximize climb time! I liked that there was a sink in the room (even though bathroom and showers were shared in the hall) and that you can get water fill ups at the bar. Thurs night bistro 2-for-1 special also a good deal and though we didn't attend, karaoke on Wed seemed very lively! The thing they could improve on would be hours consistency, though I do understand that as a small local business in a small town, this will be somewhat informal. For example, our first night we got back at just before 9pm and was told it was too late to eat, which is fine. So the next night before we left we were told to get back and order food by 8:20pm, which we did! But then we saw another couple order food just before 9pm. Also checkout is at 10am but when we came down at 9:15am there was no one around for us to leave our bags with, and we were a bit confused, until someone emerged 15 min later (they don't have a reception area, it's really just the bar, so there wasn't a place we could even ask for help or ring a bell for service). Not a big deal but more consistency would be helpful!

Stayed here on the Thursday 29 Dec 2022, booking a room with an en suite bathroom. Before checking in, left luggage/bags with manager because we wanted to do a hike. Came back in the evening and easy check in. Room was very clean, although old. Their cleaners seem to do a thorough job, which confirmed some other reviews. We also ate at the restaurant for dinner, with the Thursday $30 for 2 meals special - we ordered 2 rump steak meals, and they exceeded expectations. (although there was a 30 to 40 minute wait for dinner, because they were busy - locals seem to like to dine there). The managers at the inn are very friendly and helpful - we met 3 of them over the two days (we only stayed 1 night) and felt very welcome. Would stay again and book the room with the ensuite bathroom. So much value
