Snowy Valley Motel reviews

4 Star Review by Daniela Marenbach

If you read the reviews, do your research, set your expectations, taking into account that accommodation close to ski fields is sought-after and ridiculously expensive, I think Snowy Valley hit the mark for us. It was the perfect base and we slept well (brought our own pillows just in case). Its budget by ski accommodation standards but we were warm and had a great view of the lake, everything worked. So on that basis, happy customers :) (Family room with own bathroom)

The place is advertised as a resort but the opposite is true. It is more like a prison in a developing country. It is the worst place I have ever stayed in. All the reviews that talk about tiny rooms, shared bathrooms with rooms of 6 other people are not exaggerating. We booked what was supposed to be a triple room and it was a small room with 2 beds and a sofa bed that had no room to fold out if you wanted space to stand in the room. It was noisy at night. There was no kettle in the room, no soap in the bathroom, no towels, torn dirty carpet on the floor. When I moved the sofa bed there was rubbish underneath. The quilts were thin and of the poorest quality. To get breakfast you line up and they serve you bacon and eggs and hard toast. It is really prison like. The staff were nice and when we left one day into our three day stay because we couldnt stand it anymore, I told the staff member thst I felt sorry for her working in such a dump. Oh and by the way, there is nowhere proper to park cars so people back them into the units so the exhaust fumes go into the rooms. Please do yourself and your family a favour and do not stay at this place.

The room was clean, warm and dry. Beds were comfortable. Shared bathroom was clean and functional. This is not a 5 star hotel - but it is great value for money. The thing that really made it for me was the friendly staff and how they went out of their way to help us when our car had problems.

Giving this place 1 star is very generous. the place is filthy it needs sorting out asap. bedrooms are small I was in a 6 bed dorm and they had put an extra mattress on the floor making 7 people stay in 1 room. there was no room to open 1 suitcase never mind 7! I was there for 5 nights and barely slept due to the paper thin walls can hear what ever next door are doing. the shower would not stay at a reasonable temperature, either boiling hot or freezing cold. the heated pool looked like a bowl of soup. I could not even see the bottom step of the pool it looked like it had not been cleaned in months. the sauna was out of order. the food in the bistro was cold which you have to que up 30 minutes for. they have no shuttle into Jindabyne so if you have no car its a 2 hour walk each way and there are no taxis. I had a terrible stay here as well as most people I talked too.

I'm not a fussy guy, and I'm not a fan of regulations on businesses.....However, I can't imagine that anyone would be happy with this business, except for their accountant. How they get away with these types of density breeches is beyond me. Imagine sharing a bathroom, which is very run down, with 11 other people. No separate toilet to the shower either. So getting ready to go to the snow is a nightmare. The water in the shower is also linked to other rooms, so good luck getting it either consistently warm, or hot or cold. The rooms are impossible. 6 people in bunk beds, with luggage, in a space designed for 2. The food is pretty dire and to get breakfast you'll need to squeeze into a room that's designed for a third of the people in it. Basic ventilation, bedding, cutlery, and cleanliness are not available. I was truly amazed.

There was ONE toilet/shower/sink to share between 13 people and it was clogged for the entirety of the two days we spent there, even after asking to have it fixed. The bathroom was really dirty and gross, taps constantly dripping and hair strewn throughout the tiles on the shower. No one in our room (which we shared with strangers) was aware of the fact that we would be sharing a room with people we do not know. It was a really uncomfortable situation as we couldn't prepare for it. The staff were nice, guides were great and the snow was amazing. But the accomodation was literally the worst and I wouldn't recommend anyone stay there.

The bathroom was too small I was expecting snow for it to be snowy valley resort the food was poor quality it didn't agree with me we had to swap beds because the top bunk wasn't steady enough it was hard to climb up to the top because of no ladder to climb up there was no face cloth to wash yourself there was no space between bunk beds it felt claustrophobic and the tiles in the bathroom were too slippery I almost slipped
